The Emerging Technologies Technical Advisory Committee advises the U.S. Department of Commerce , reporting to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration. This TAC is charged with the identification of emerging technologies with potential dual-use applications as early as possible in their developmental stages both within the United States and abroad. In its work the committee will be forward leaning — focusing both on the current state of such technologies and projecting their likely effects five to ten years in the future on national security, the U.S. defense industrial base, and the overall health and competitiveness of the U.S. economy.
